Wild Flowers - Malaysian Roadside Herbs

My main focus is flowers. Flowers of wild plants, usually ignored by passer-bys. These flowers come from a varieties of plants life from creepers, grasses and little trees. It is really difficult for a layman compiling something in plain language where scientific documents had done them in volumes. The interesting fact to me is that very few books or reference or simple reading books carry record of these magnificent wild plant with with their gorgeous flowers. So for a start, I will explain my rationale of grouping these unrelated plants.

A herb is a small plant that is noticed for qualities such as medicinal properties, flavor or scent. When mention Herbs - most people will associated it with culinary, medicinal, or in some cases even spiritual usage. Of course, when it comes to using parts of the plants, the focus would be on its fleshy green leaves, roots, seeds flowers and lastly bark. That's when the plant get noticed because ordinary people have found a use for them. For those with showy flowers and yet do not get noticed! It is because humans have not found any value. But let's not forget, their mere presence means something. Especially when they do have flowers. Why not start with appreciating its intrinsic role of beautifying our surroundings. Let's notice them. Yes, many plants on my list are already accepted and being used too.

For this page of mine, I'll stay with the role played by flowers. Then borrowing the word "herb" for grouping plants which are small and with succulent stems.

I have also included "Creepers" that flower. But there is 3rd group, beside creepers. As for those small plants with woody stems that has showy flowers, I will dump these flowering plants together with a page on sub-scrubs.
